Frequently Asked Questions

  • A midwife is a medical professional responsible for the clinical care of your pregnancy journey. A doula does not provide medical care. My role is to offer continuous emotional, physical, & spiritual support: helping you feel grounded, empowered, informed, & held throughout this chapter. I support the space around the birth, while your midwife supports the medical aspects.

  • Research shows that continuous doula support is associated with more positive birth experiences, including lower anxiety, shorter labors, reduced unnecessary interventions, & higher rates of optimal breastfeeding & overall satisfaction. Beyond that, a doula offers presence & reassurance, helping you & your partner feel supported, informed, & confident every step of the way.

  • Yes. I support you through hospital births, home births, birth center births, medicated & unmedicated births, cesarean births, VBACs, inductions, & everything in between. My role is not to impose a vision of birth, but to support your choices, advocate for your needs, & help you feel informed, safe, & empowered throughout your journey.

  • I offer compassionate, non-judgmental support for women moving through miscarriage, abortion, pregnancy loss, or perinatal trauma, including difficult or traumatic birth experiences. I can support you through a Closing of the Bones ceremony: a sacred ancestral ritual designed to help women feel emotionally held, witnessed, and gently supported through transition, grief, & healing. Each experience is customised & approached with deep respect for your story.

  • This is more common than you may think. Sometimes partners simply do not yet see the necessity of having a doula or worry they will feel replaced in the experience. My role is not to take their place, but to support both of you. I help your partner feel more confident, informed, & present throughout the experience while allowing them to focus on supporting & connecting with you, rather than carrying everything alone. Doula support often helps couples feel more grounded & supported as a team during birth & postpartum.

  • We begin with a discovery call to connect & explore your desires: whether you are seeking doula support, a rite of passage, or perinatal trauma care. If it feels aligned, your space is secured with a deposit & a signed contract (for doula clients). The journey then begins!!!

  • A non-refundable 15% deposit is required to secure your spot, with the remaining balance due at least a month before your estimated due date (for doula clients) or a week before the rite of passage. Payment plans can be arranged to support accessibility & ease.

  • Yes, when the moment allows it and with your consent.

  • Yes! I speak fluently English & French. We can speak the language that suits you best.

  • While my work is primarily offered in person, I can offer virtual prenatal meetings & postpartum integration sessions for families who need additional flexibility. I also offer virtual emotional support sessions for women moving perinatal trauma or pregnancy loss.
